Today marks the 12^th anniversary of the September 11^th terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, as well as the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) made the following statement:

“On that fateful Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001, our nation was attacked by lawless terrorists. Today, we remember the innocent victims who lost their lives and the courageous service men and woman who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, in an effort to protect America from those who are determined to destroy our cherished freedoms.

We have been attacked not once, but twice on this tragic day. Just last year, terrorists attacked our consulate in Benghazi. As a result, we lost four brave Americans; Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens; information management officer Sean Smith; and two former Navy Seals serving as security officers, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. Let us take a moment to remember these brave men who died serving our country.

As we pay our respects to the fallen, let us also take a moment to give thanks to those who are currently in the military protecting our freedoms, and let us pray they return home safely. As a nation, we must steadfastly maintain and defend our liberties, and never allow those who hate us to destroy that resolve. Count on me to lead the charge in the fight to keep our nation great.”
