Weber Amendment Passes House Floor
Washington, DC,
May 22, 2013
Today, Congressman Weber (R-Texas) offered his amendment highlighting the findings of the State Department’s exhaustive environmental review of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The Congressman’s amendment strengthens the argument to pass the Northern Route Approval Act, which declares that a Presidential permit is not required for the Keystone XL Pipeline’s application. “My amendment simply sets the record straight by adding findings from this Administration’s State Department that attest to the safety and environmental soundness of this project,” said Congressman Weber. “The science supports approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline, and I agree. Given the facts, I see no reason to make the American people wait any longer for a project whose construction will support upwards of 40,000 jobs and generate upwards of $2 billion in earnings.” Along with Congressman Weber’s amendment, which passed the floor by a vote of 246 to 168; Congressman Lee Terry’s (R-Nebraska) legislation, the Northern Approval Act passed the House floor by a vote of 241 to 175 (1 Present vote). ### |
