On Friday, the Internal Revenue Service admitted to targeted scrutiny of conservative groups in their applications for tax-exempt status. Hundreds of groups have been targeted, and went beyond those with “tea party” or “patriot” in their names. In light of the news, Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) is calling for a full investigation of the IRS. 

“Since Friday, there has been resounding opposition, on both sides of the aisle, against the recent findings of the IRS targeting conservative groups,” said Congressman Weber. “The President today called this incident ‘outrageous.’ Frankly, it is beyond outrageous and completely unethical. There needs to be a full and complete investigation regarding this unnerving matter. For those involved in this mess, I expect them to be held accountable for their audacious abuse of power. Thomas Payne said it this way: ‘Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.’ Patriots: remain vigilant!”
