Weber Statement On 2020 State of the Union

WASHINGTON D.C. – On February 04, 2020, President Donald Trump addressed the nation in his third State of the Union address. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement: As the President spoke of the blue-collar boom, I delighted in knowing my constituent’s in Texas 14 are reaping the benefits of this Administration’s policies. Texas gained more than 12,000 factories in three years under President Trump, after losing 60,000 factories during the 16 years of the last two presidents. Texas created 895,000 jobs - including 77,000 manufacturing jobs – leading to a falling Texas poverty rate that lifted 29,000 people out of poverty. This is what a great American comeback looks like. Even with a booming economy, danger still lurks within our nation. President Trump clearly articulated the dangers of socialism, touching on issues of healthcare, education, and national security. The President is right in saying, “socialism destroys nations, but freedom unifies the soul.” We must stay diligent to protect the core principles and values upon which America was founded. Tonight’s speech was inspiring - full of hope, ideas and offering a call for bipartisan action. I pray my Democrat colleagues were listening but watching Speaker Pelosi’s performance tonight makes me fear they were not. Sill, I believe in the United States of America, and that the best really IS yet to come!" |
