Weber Urges Passage of the USMCA
Washington,
September 3, 2019
Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, September 3, 2019 - Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX-14) released the following statement:
"The United States–Mexico–Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) is not only vital to America's continued economic growth ,but also a necessary component of the financial health of Texas. As the 10th largest economy in the world, Texas leads the nation in exports - of which 45 percent ship to Canada and Mexico. Trade with our neighbors to the north and south support more than 950,000 Texas jobs. The USMCA encourages fair trade and innovation by providing stronger protections for American intellectual property and establishing rules that ensure a free and fair digital marketplace. It also provides additional opportunities for small businesses by cutting red tape - making it easier to ship products across borders.
It is time for Congress to put aside bipartisan differences and ratify the USMCA. Let's ensure trade is both free and fair, while granting our farmers, ranchers, and manufactures the protections they deserve." |
