PRESIDENT’S SPEECH MISSED THE MARK
Washington, DC,
February 13, 2013
Tonight, the President gave his annual remarks for the State of the Union. In response, Congressman Randy Weber (R-Texas) made the following statement: “Tonight, President Obama put forth an agenda that he believes will boost the economy and create good-paying jobs without costing a dime. However, we’ve heard the exact same story for the last four years. Instead, President Obama’s failed policies have exploded our debt, increased unemployment and stifled economic growth. “President Obama cannot solve every problem with an Executive Order, nor can he hold such Orders over Congress as a bargaining chip. More taxes and spending will not save the day. “I am calling on the President to work with Congress to actually provide the American people a budget, which he and the Democrat-led Senate have not done since the iPad’s first debut. We need a balanced budget that does not raise taxes, while still protecting our most vulnerable populations. Our free enterprise economy needs to be unshackled from burdensome regulations and an unfair tax code. “More government is not the answer. More spending is not the answer. More taxes are not the answer. The answers are found through hard choices to cut spending, to reduce dependency on others, and to limit the government, thereby ensuring a stronger, safer America for tomorrow.” ### |
