Weber Votes to Pass Humanitarian Border Crisis Funding

Washington D.C. – On Thursday, June 27, 2019, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on final passage of the Border Supplemental. After voting for the bill, Congressman Randy Weber (R - Friendswood) released the following statement:

“I am grateful the House Democrat Leadership decided to forego party politics and were willing to bring up the Senate Bipartisan version of the Border Supplemental Appropriations bill to the House Floor. While not perfect, the bill certainly does provide the tools necessary for those operating on the border to continue handling the crisis.

“By passing this bill we will provide resources desperately needed to enable border patrol agents, immigration judges, and active duty military personnel the ability to secure our border, process immigration cases, and investigate human traffickers exploiting children and endangering our national security. We will also provide better medical care and safer shelter for migrant families and children.

“However, our job is not done. We still need to come together to negotiation a true solution to both our border and immigration crisis. America accepts more immigrants than any other country in the world. This is because we value other cultures and intellect. That should not change. However, we still must understand who is entering our borders and ensure our population stays protected. That is non-negotiable.”
