Weber Statement on Resolution Against the National Emergency

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, the majority forced a resolution to terminate the national emergency declared by President Trump on February 15, 2019, pertaining to the immigration crisis on the southern border. After the vote, Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:

“My colleagues on the other side of the aisle are once again playing politics with a national crisis. Under any other president, this declaration wouldn’t be an issue. Congress has given the president the statutory authority to declare national emergencies. The humanitarian and national security crisis on our southern border is real and of extreme importance to my constituents and all Americans. How can we deny the existence of this national emergency and avoid working toward a solution to this clear and present problem?”
