Congress Should Not Be Paid…If They Don’t Pass a Budget
Washington, DC,
January 25, 2013
On Monday, President Barack Obama laid out his liberal agenda of more spending, more government and more job-killing regulations. What we need is more jobs, less government and a balanced budget. Today, the Republican-led House of Representatives took the steps to force the Democrat-controlled Senate and President to pass a budget. I voted for the “No Budget, No Pay Act” to ensure Washington is held accountable. This vote is for a four-month extension on already existing obligations to keep the government functioning and in good standing. Today’s vote draws a line in the sand telling the Democrat-controlled Senate and the President to get their act together. We will no longer stand idly by, while they spend taxpayers’ hard-earned money and America into oblivion. The passage of the “No Budget, No Pay Act” will focus the debate on meaningful spending cuts, and balancing our budget, while at the same time stopping the President’s aggressive spending agenda. Citizens should expect the Senate to do their job and pass a budget, which they haven’t done in four years! Make no mistake that this will be my only vote to extend the debt-ceiling and I will oppose any measure that will not balance our budget. |
