Weber Statement on 5-Year FAA Authorization
Washington,
September 27, 2018
Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 302, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018. The measure includes the Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA). In April, this legislation passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support. After conference with the Senate, Congress once again passed a strong bill. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:
“At the beginning of this Congress, our committee set out with a goal: Bring America’s infrastructure into the 21st century. Our FAA bill does just that. For the first time since 1982, we are delivering direction through a full five-year authorization. We are focused on bringing our airport infrastructure into this century, promoting the safety of our travelers and bettering the services of our airlines. “Furthermore, the bill includes the Disaster Recovery Reform Act. In the last two years alone, our nation has borne a tremendous amount of suffering in the wake of natural disasters. We have responded with even greater hope and hard work, but something must be done to prepare for and prevent such widespread devastation in the future. To that end, we focus on pre-disaster mitigation with reforms to FEMA and to existing law, while clarifying aspects of eligibility, assistance and transparency. “I am proud to work with my colleagues as we protect, maintain and rebuild the integrity of our nation’s infrastructure.” ### |
