Congressman Weber Named Vice-Chair of Energy Subcommittee for the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology

Congressman Randy Weber (TX-14) was named Vice Chair of the Energy Subcommittee by Chairman Lamar Smith (TX-21) of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology Committee.

“I am humbly honored to be given this opportunity by Chairman Smith,” said Congressman Weber. “Texas 14 is an energy-rich district, is home to five ports, has countless refineries, and is the last stop of the potential Keystone Pipeline. I will prioritize working towards energy independence, and helping further our programs at NASA including the Johnson Space Center.”

“In the new Congress, the Science Committee will promote policies that support our nation’s space program, encourage energy independence, expand scientific education, fund basic research, and enhance the development of new technologies,” said Chairman Lamar Smith.  “All of this work begins in the Subcommittees. I look forward to joining Rep. Weber to advance policies that spur innovation, job creation and economic growth.”

Established in 1958, the Science, Space, and Technology Committee has jurisdiction over all non-defense federal scientific research and development. The Committee has jurisdiction over programs at the following federal agencies: NASA, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Science Foundation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, FEMA, the U.S. Fire Administration, and United States Geological Survey, among others.
