Weber Statement on January Continuing Resolution Vote
Washington,
January 19, 2018
Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, January 18, 2018, the House of Representatives voted on a continuing resolution (CR). In 2017, the House passed all 12 appropriations bills. The Senate has yet to even bring one of them to the floor. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:
“It is a shame that we find ourselves in this situation yet again, but here we are. There are 9 million children who need the healthcare provided by the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Americans need relief from arduous taxes such as the Cadillac tax and the medical device tax. The military has ships and aircraft in desperate need of repair and equipment that needs maintenance. Most importantly, our brave men and women deserve proper training. CHIP, tax relief, and our military all have bipartisan support. Rather than acting and focusing on individual aspects of government and legislation, we get caught up in the politics of everything. Our constituents sent us here to work. Let’s try that for a change.” ### |
