Rep. Weber Applauds Passage of Government Funding Bill, Bringing Relief to Texans

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14) released the following statement after Congress passed H.R.5371, Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026:

"Tonight, I voted to bring long-overdue relief to Texans who have faced weeks of uncertainty throughout this 42 day Schumer Shutdown. This bill passed by a vote of 222 to 209 and President Trump is expected to sign it into law soon.

Throughout this shutdown, Congressional Republicans stood firm against the $1.5 trillion in reckless spending demanded by Democrats and remained determined to put the American people first. It took seven weeks for members across the aisle to finally realize they were failing the American people. They put health care for illegal aliens ahead of paying American workers, keeping our airports running, and supporting the men and women in uniform who protect this nation.

This Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act keeps the government funded at Fiscal Year 2025 levels through January 30, 2026, or until full-year appropriations bills are enacted. The bill includes full annual funding for three of the twelve annual appropriations bills: Military Construction and VA, Agriculture/FDA, and Legislative Branch."
