Weber Statement on Harvey Disaster Relief Funding

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of H. Res. 502, providing for Harvey disaster relief funding. FEMA estimates it will run out of money by the end of the week without disaster funding. Upon passage of the bill, Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:

“The severity and enormity of Harvey is unlike anything we have ever seen. I am left speechless by the magnitude of devastation. Harvey disaster relief funding is critical to getting Texans and our Cajun neighbors back on our feet. Over 617,000 people are already registered for disaster assistance, and more are still applying. The total damage has yet to be fully recognized, but this bill is a good place for us to start.

My colleagues and I voted for a transparent bill that provides immediate emergency funding. I encourage our colleagues in the Senate to take this bill for what it is. It’s clean and simple.

Harvey may have deluged our state with rain, but he cannot dampen our spirit.”
