Weber Statement on Passage of Make America Secure Appropriations Act

The U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of H.R. 3219, the Make America Secure Appropriations Act. The bill passed by a vote of 235 to 192. Within the appropriations act are four divisions: Defense, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Energy and Water. Upon passage of the bill, Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:

“The Make America Secure Appropriations Act aims to do just that – keep our nation secure across all fronts. These combined appropriations fund entities critical to our nation’s safety and security.

Making America secure means securing our borders, rebuilding our armed forces, raising our troops’ pay, strengthening our research and development of nuclear energy, honoring our veterans, funding our U.S. waterways, and most importantly, protecting our citizens.

The House is focused, determined, and ready to work. I applaud the hard work and dedication of my colleagues to strengthen these bills through the committee process and improve them further on the House Floor. I am grateful for the many hours of debate spent on the provisions within the bill, and I look forward to the Senate taking up this measure.”
