Weber Statement on Passage of FY2018 NDAA
Washington, D.C.,
July 14, 2017
The Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed the House 344 to 81. 440 amendments were submitted to the House Committee on Rules, and 210 amendments were debated on the floor. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood) released the following statement:
“At a time when the world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place, years of budget cuts have hurt our military’s capabilities and readiness. Today, the House of Representatives acted in a bipartisan fashion to reform and rebuild our military. Our planes, ships, and troops require the resources and innovation authorized in the NDAA in order to succeed. The FY18 NDAA addresses the critical maintenance and repair needs of our military’s facilities and equipment. Funding prioritizes increasing enlistment; provides our troops a well-deserved pay raise, which is also the largest pay raise in eight years; and supports military families. The NDAA equips our military to protect our national interests against increasingly complex threats. In passing this important legislation, Congress executed its Article I Constitutional obligation to “provide for the common defense,” and in doing so, secure the blessings of liberty.” ### |
