Weber Issues Statement on Recent Israel Attacks
Washington, DC,

“I am continually amazed by the restraint shown on the part of the State of Israel,” said Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood). “Grown from the ashes of the Holocaust with a population the approximate size of the city of Houston, Israel is frequently abandoned by those who call themselves allies, and instead surrounded by those who call for their death. From Russia, Iran, Hezbollah and the Assad regime joining forces and operating alongside the Israeli border in Syria, to hundreds of billions of dollars flowing to the world’s greatest funder of global terrorism, to ISIL operating aggressively both around Israel’s borders and within the Palestinian Authority, it is no wonder that Israel’s many enemies feel more emboldened than ever.” “The rampant increase in terror, stabbings and murders against Israelis is reprehensible. The fact that Israel’s supposed partner in peace -- the Palestinian Authority -- is praising and encouraging the continuation of these attacks is unconscionable, and must end immediately. Had an equal number of attacks occurred within the city of Houston, Texas, there is no question but that our response would be significantly more aggressive than the response exhibited by Israel. It is past time we put ourselves in their shoes, view current events through their eyes, and consider how we would respond in their situation.” “I condemn the actions of the terrorists, those who support them, and the governments of the Palestinian Authority and Iran who encourage their actions. I am proud to stand with Israel, and support their right to defend themselves against all enemies who seek their destruction. In spite of current events, I remain hopeful and continue to pray for peace in Israel.” ### |
