Weber Presents Congressional Award to Clear Springs HS Students
Washington, DC,

League City, TX – Today, United States Representative Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) issued the following statement after presenting the Congressional Award to Nick Zamora for success in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration. “It was a pleasure meeting Nick Zamora and presenting him with the Congressional Award Bronze Medal. Nick volunteered over 100 hours of service with the Perry Family YMCA, where he volunteered at a daycare for children ages 6 months to 11 years. For personal development, Nick participated in a student band with the Second Baptist South Campus, where he overcame his fear of performing to large audiences. Nick also improved his vertical jump to 31 inches, completing his physical fitness goal. He accomplished this extraordinary feat by participating in an afterschool football program, attending a receiver camp at Texas A&M, and following a regimented strength and conditioning training program over the summer. Learning more about the history and development of West Texas enabled Nick to complete the exploration requirement for the Congressional Award. Nick’s passion for community, education and personal development is unparalleled. I wish Nick all the best in his future endeavors.” The Congressional Award was established in 1979 by Congress to recognize initiative, service and achievement in our young people throughout the United States. It recognizes personal accomplishments and success in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration. Participants are encouraged to set their own goals and work to achieve those goals at their own pace. To learn more about the Congressional Award, please click here. ### |
