WEBER ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN 30th ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

Congressman Weber is encouraging student artists and enthusiasts to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition, which provides an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since its inception, three decades ago, over 650,000 high school students have participated in the nationwide competition.

In order to participate, students must be residents of the 14th District of Texas. To verify district residency in the 14th Congressional District, you may visit weber.house.gov. Additionally, we encourage homeschooled students from the District to submit artwork as well.

The deadline for 2013 Competition entries is Wednesday, April 24. Students may only submit one original entry no larger than 28" x 28" x 4" inches, including the frame. Paintings, drawings, watercolors, pastels, collages, or prints may be submitted.

The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., for one year starting in June, replacing the previous year's winner. That entry will be displayed with the works of student artists from across America. The works of the runners-up will be displayed in Congressman Weber's District Office for one year.

In an effort to recognize as many of our talented student artists as possible, an honorable mention from each school district is also selected.

For additional information about the Congressional Art Contest and to receive a 14th District participation form, please contact our Lake Jackson district office at 979-285-0231 or visit weber.house.gov for all the information and forms here.
