Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) released the following statement on the introduction of his new bill, the Protect our Southwestern States Enforcement (POSSE) Act (H.R. 5905):

“Our nation’s southern border has been left unprotected for far too long. The POSSE Act will direct the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to keep every border patrol station open and fully staffed to effectively halt the flow of illegal aliens, and combat the domestic criminality associated with our current lack of border security. In addition, this legislation would require the completion of effective double layer fencing along the entire southwestern border, which currently has numerous gaps that have allowed for illegal immigrants and potential terrorists to easily cross into the United States. Our nation’s security is my top priority. My legislation will put Americans first by restoring common sense border security on our southern border.”
