Weber Votes to Hold Iran Accountable with New Sanctions

Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 5631, the Iran Accountability Act of 2016 and H.R.  4992, the United States Financial System Protection Act of 2016:

“Today marks the year anniversary since the Obama Administration failed the American people by making a nuclear deal with Iran. In the House, we took action by passing a package of legislation imposing mandatory sanctions against Iran and those who support Iran’s efforts to export terror and human trafficking, or against those who support the continuation of their ballistic missile program. We also are protecting the global financial system blocking Iran and its banks from accessing U.S. currency. It’s time to hold Iran accountable and well beyond time to put America first.”

The House also passed H.R.  5119, No 2H2O from Iran Act, earlier this week which prohibits taxpayer dollars from being used by a federal department or agency to issue a license to purchase heavy water from Iran.
