Tax Cuts for America's Manufacturers

Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 4923, the American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016:

“Currently, American manufacturers are being unfairly taxed. As it stands, manufacturers are forced to pay a duty on products, critical to their domestic production, which are purchased outside the United States, because there is no comparable product produced here. Our economy has suffered a $1.875 billion loss from this $748 million tax hike. This bill, of which I am a co-sponsor, establishes a process for manufacturers to seek relief from this tax and put that money back into their business and the economy. This is a long overdue solution to a problem created by a bloated federal government that will strengthen American manufacturers’ competitive edge in the global economy.”
