Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) released the following statement on the passage of H. Res. 639, which authorizes Speaker Ryan to file an amicus brief on behalf of the House defending Congress's Article I powers under the Constitution:

“For the past eight years, the President has been undermining Congress and the Constitution. With this resolution, the House is taking action to protect our Constitution by authorizing the Speaking to file an amicus brief in defense of Congress’ Constitutional authority. The people elect representatives to advocate for their views and values in Congress. The President’s has been blatantly ignoring the will of the people throughout his Presidency and it’s time to rein in his Administration.”
