Weber Issues Statement on President's SCOTUS Nominee

Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) released the following statement on the President’s decision to nominate the Honorable Merrick Garland, chief judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, for the recent Supreme Court Justice vacancy:

“While the President may nominate a Supreme Court Justice, the Senate has every right under our Constitution to not allow confirmation proceedings to move forward. As I have previously stated, I support the Senate’s decision to postpone the confirmation process until the next President is elected. The American people should have the opportunity to voice their views on who should fill the vacancy of the late Justice Scalia.”
