Congressman Randy Weber Votes to Block Sanction Relief to Iran

Congressman Randy Weber (TX-14) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 3662 – the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act:

“Since the Iran Deal was approved by President Obama without Congressional support, we have seen the Iranian regime continually ignore the terms and continue on with business as usual. They, have refused to dismantle the core of their heavy water reactor in direct violation of the agreement. Nor have they released any Americans still held hostage. Additionally, they fired unguided missiles near our naval fleet in December, and on the night of the State of the Union, detained two of our naval ships and 10 of our sailors.”

“This legislation will block the President from offering sanctions relief to entities that conduct any significant transactions with terrorist organizations, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or in support of Iran’s ballistic missile or conventional weapons program. As we saw earlier this month, the President paraded the Iran deal as a victory during his final State of the Union address, instead of acknowledging the very real truth – that the deal only further emboldens the world’s largest sponsor of terror. It’s up to Congress to implement sanctions on Iran and prevent the progress of their nuclear weapons program. It’s up to Congress to put America first during the President’s final year in office.”
