Weber Co-Sponsors Bill Blocking Syrian Refugees from Entering U.S.
Washington, DC,
November 17, 2015
Today, Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) co-sponsored legislation authored by fellow Texan and Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Austin). The bill, H.R. 3573 – Refugee Resettlement Oversight and Security Act (H.R. 3573) requires affirmative approval by the House and Senate before any refugees are admitted to the US, and allows Congress to block any inadequate refugee resettlement plan put forward by the President. “I do not trust this President or his Administration to carry out a plan that will protect our borders and citizens of this nation. Congress must act to ensure that we are taking every precaution to prevent yet another terror attack on American soil. We know that at least one of the terrorists who participated in the Paris attacks came to France with Syrian refugees. The risk is too great to let thousands of refugees in to our country, especially after ISIS has issued a warning to the United States claiming they have fighters already within our borders. I will not allow the President to put our country in jeopardy. I encourage Speaker Ryan to bring this bill to the floor for a vote immediately.” ### |
