Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) along with 22 other Texas members sent a letter to Governor Greg Abbott encouraging the state to take rigorous actions to protect the electric grid of the State of Texas.

“Our electrical grid is vulnerable to a wide range of threats that could cut off power to families and businesses, including physical, cyber, Electromagnetic Pulses (EMPs), and space weather threats. The United States’ power grid is pervious to physical or online attacks roughly once every four days. We must do what we can in our authorities to protect our vital infrastructure, that is why I along with my Texas colleagues are encouraging Governor Abbott to take a leading role in protecting our grid from the domestic and foreign threats as well as severe weather. Texas has already taken the steps in ensuring the fortification of the electric grid and I encourage the continued leadership of the Great State of Texas in this endeavor. ”
