Weber Issues Statement on Speaker Vote
Washington, DC,
October 29, 2015
Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) made the following statement on today’s Speaker vote: “It’s time for a new Speaker. Today’s vote was a chance to elect a person who will cultivate and communicate a conservative message bringing much needed reform and restoring the congressional process. That is why I voted for Daniel Webster of Florida. I have been in Mr. Webster’s corner since the beginning of this Speaker’s race in September and stood by him through all the twists and turns. While Mr. Webster may not have garnered the magic number to become Speaker, I applaud him for his efforts and perseverance. Now that we have a new Speaker, I would like to congratulate Paul Ryan. This is a fresh start for Republicans. It is my hope that Mr. Ryan will take this opportunity to forward our conservative cause, restore order in the House, and have the strength to make tough decisions that will protect and strengthen this great nation. It’s time to get to work for hardworking American families who entrusted us to be their voice in Congress.” ### |
