Rep. Weber Announces Funding for Port Freeport

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding a $15,958,380 million federal grant to Port Freeport through the Port Infrastructure Development Program for the Velasco Terminal Sustainability Expansion Project. The project includes the construction of a new 36,900-square-foot cross-dock facility and related site improvements on a 10-acre site and a new terminal access truck gate.

“This is welcome news for Port Freeport,” said Rep. Weber. “Port Freeport is a vital hub for exporting and handling goods for our nation and is a linchpin of our nation’s trade infrastructure. This grant will help us construct a state-of-the-art cross-dock facility and enhance our terminal access. This investment in our ports and waterways is critical to our district, Texas and the nation.”
