Weber Supports English as Official Language Legislation

Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) recently co-sponsored Congressman Steve King’s (R-IA-4) English Language Unity Act of 2015 (H.R. 997). The legislation would establish English as the official language of the United States.

“A common language is a cohesive bond that allows us to build strong relationships at work and in our community.  The English Language Unity Act is common sense legislation that will require all official functions of the United States to be conducted in English, establishes a uniform language requirement for naturalization, and requires our government to promote and encourage English language learning. Not only will this allow legal immigrants to assimilate more effectively, it could also save our government millions of dollars. The United States is known to be a melting pot that celebrates diversity. Having English as the official language would be the bond that holds this great nation together.”
