Weber Acts to Rein in Burdensome Regulations
Washington, DC,
July 28, 2015
Today, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 427, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2015 by a vote of 243 to 165. The REINS Act would increase accountability and transparency in the federal regulatory process by allowing Congress to give final approval on all new major regulations. Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood), an original co-sponsor of the legislation, made the following statement: “We have three branches of government to provide a check and balance to ensure that our government does not become bloated with bureaucracy and job-killing red-tape. Unfortunately, under this Administration our government has become larger, and our regulations have become more burdensome. It’s time to rein in the unelected bureaucrats to prevent them from imposing rules that are squeezing our job creators and stifling our economy.” ### |
