Weber Votes to Block Federal Funding to Sanctuary Cities

Today, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 3009 - Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act. Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) is an original co-sponsor of this legislation, which would block federal funding for sanctuary cities who ignore federal immigration laws.

“What happened to Kate Steinle could have been prevented,” said Congressman Randy Weber. “We cannot allow people who break the law to seek refuge and hide from justice. If sanctuary cities disregard the rule of law and fail to protect their citizens from criminal illegal aliens, they should not be afforded federal tax dollars. While this is a strong first step, there is much more that can be done. I urge the swift passage of Kate’s Law and Grant’s Law in order to prevent the release of convicted illegal aliens by our government onto the streets of America.”
