Keystone XL Pipeline Legislation Heads to President's Desk
Washington, DC,
February 11, 2015
Today, the United States of House of Representatives voted on the Senate’s Keystone XL Pipeline legislation (S.1). The legislation passed by a vote of 270 to 152 and now head’s to the President’s desk. “Over six years has passed since the first permit application was filed for Keystone XL. That pre-dates the introduction of the iPad. In contrast, Congress has acted in less than two months to approve the most studied pipeline in our nation’s history, which is supported by over 70 percent of Americans. The State Department’s own extensive research study concluded that this pipeline will be safe and environmentally-sound. It strengthens our relationship with our neighbor of the North, and will create thousands of American jobs. There is no logical reason for the President to veto this jobs creating bill. It’s time for the President to stop delaying what is best for the American people. It’s time to build the Keystone XL Pipeline.” If the President vetoes this legislation, both chambers will need two-thirds to override the President’s rejection. ### |
