Weber votes to condemn President on release of Taliban Five
Washington, DC,
September 9, 2014
Today, the United States House of Representatives voted on House Resolution 644, condemning the Obama Administration’s failure to comply with the law which requires the President to give prior notice to Congress before a prisoner exchange. The resolution passed by a vote of 249 to 163. Representative Randy Weber (R-Friendswood) voted for the legislation and made the following statement: “Once again, President Obama failed to comply with the law, and went around Congress. Current requirements, signed into law by President Obama, require the President to give 30-day notice to Congress about a prisoner exchange. The President’s hasty and irresponsible decision to release five top Taliban officials greatly risks the safety of our country and must not be forgotten.” Representative Randy Weber has been a proactive leader against the countless lawless actions of the President. In June, Weber authored House Resolution 652, condemning the President of the United States and the executive branch of government for continuous actions that violates the laws and Constitution of the United States. The Taliban Five exchange was one of the many lawless actions of the President mentioned in the Representative’s resolution. |
