Weber Votes to Protect the Border
Washington, DC,
August 1, 2014
Today, the United States House of Representatives voted on two measures in an effort to curtail the recent influx of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) across the U.S./Mexico Border. “Over the past month, I have been immensely vocal on the border crisis and proactive by providing a smart solution,” said Congressman Randy Weber. “I introduced the ‘Illegal Entry Accountability Act of 2014’ which would suspend foreign aid to the Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras until it could be proven these countries took the necessary steps to stem the tide of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs).” The House voted on H.R. 5230, legislation that would provide supplemental funding to secure our border and H.R. 5272, which will prevent expansion and additional funding of the President’s executive memorandum of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). “These bills put America first by stopping Obama’s amnesty program (DACA), providing additional resources to protect our nation’s southern border and strengthening our nation’s immigration laws. These changes will help stem the tide of UACs flooding into our nation by kindly and promptly reuniting these children with their families in their home countries.” ### |
