Weber: If we wanted fairness for all, we should have defunded ObamaCare
Washington, DC,
October 16, 2013
Tonight, the House voted on the Reid-McConnell Agreement which would fund the government till January 15, 2014, raise the debt ceiling to February 7 and require income verification of individuals who receive federal subsidies to help pay for health insurance under the President’s health care law. Congressman Randy Weber (R-Friendswood), who voted against the bill, made the following statement: “A vote to raise the debt ceiling was a vote to kick the can further down the road, leaving a mess for our children and grandchildren to deal with in the future. We are $16 trillion in debt and yet, our President will not meet with Congress to rein in out-of-control spending. We have an unworkable health care law that is stalling job growth, hindering our economy and hurting hard-working, middle class Americans right where it counts the most – their pocket books. Although this battle may be over, I will continue to wage the war against big government’s out-of-control spending, put an end to the President’s takeover of health care and get America back on a path to prosperity.” ### |
