Dear Friend,
It's hard to believe that two weeks ago, Harvey was barreling toward the coast. Now, we have Hurricane Irma rattling the Caribbean, and heading toward Florida. My thoughts and prayers are with so many Americans tonight.
If there is anything these past two weeks have taught us, it's that - UNITED - we can accomplish anything. Just yesterday, your entire House and Senate Texas delegation sat down for a bipartisan lunch and discussion regarding where we go from here. Though we have different approaches, we all want Texas to get back on our feet as soon as possible.
Some important things to note: My remaining "Kolaches with the Congressman" events were rescheduled to ensure FEMA and the Small Business Administration had representatives present. I am including some resources you may find helpful as Southeast Texas begins to recover and rebuild. See below for more details.
If you or your friends have any additional questions, please turn to my Harvey Resources page on my House webpage and sign up my eNewsletter.
Sincerely,

Randy K. Weber

During August and September, I was set to host three "Kolaches with the Congressman" events. Hurricane Harvey changed the plan a little bit. Both the Galveston County and Jefferson County events were changed. Updated information is below and on my website. At both events, I will have a FEMA and SBA representative present to help answer questions regarding registration and disaster assistance.

disaster assistance & aPPEALS |
The severity and enormity of Harvey is unlike anything we have ever seen. Nearly 700,000 people are already registered for disaster assistance, and more are still applying. The total damage has yet to be fully recognized. Additionally, Irma promises to add significantly more to the system. It is critical that you register as soon as you can.
Register for assistance → www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
My Texas and Louisiana colleagues and I were with Speaker Paul Ryan as he signed the Hurricane Harvey relief package. After signing it, the bill went to the White House where President Trump immediately signed the bill into law. Read my full statement here → Weber Statement on Harvey Relief Package.
FEMA Appeals Process
If FEMA sends you a decision letter you wish to appeal, please follow these steps.

Clean up & Debris Disposal |
8 Tips to Clean Up Mold
- Protect Yourself: Put on personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, goggles) to protect your eyes, nose, mouth and skin.
- Toss: Take it out. Anything that was wet with flood water and can’t be cleaned and dried out completely within 24 to 48 hours should be taken outside. Take photos of discarded items for filing insurance claims.
- Air It Out: Open all doors and windows when you are working, and leave as many open as you safely can when you leave.
- Circulate: When electricity is safe to use, fans and dehumidifiers may help remove moisture.
- Don’t Mix Cleaners: If you use cleaning products, do not mix cleaning products together. DO NOT mix bleach and ammonia because it can create toxic vapors.
- Scrub Surfaces: Clean with water and a detergent. Remove all mold you see. Dry right away.
- Don’t Cover It, Remove It: Painting or caulking over mold will not prevent mold from growing. Fix the water problem completely and clean up all the mold before you paint or caulk.
- Dry It Up: Dry your home and everything in it as quickly as possible – within 24 to 48 hours if you can.
