This past week, President Trump returned to the world stage to remind our allies and adversaries alike what strong American leadership looks like. His trip across Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and his meeting with President Xi of China made one thing clear: the United States is leading again.
In Malaysia, the President helped broker peace between Thailand and Cambodia through the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords and signed new trade and mineral agreements that bring critical supply chains back under American control. That means less dependence on China and more opportunity for American workers. In Japan, he met with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to strengthen cooperation on defense, energy, and technology — ensuring our nations stand side by side in keeping the Indo-Pacific secure.
President Trump’s meeting with President Xi made it clear that the United States will protect its interests, defend its workers, and build partnerships only with nations that respect America’s sovereignty. He wrapped up in South Korea by securing new trade and energy agreements that expand U.S. exports, grow American industry, and strengthen our economy here at home.
These partnerships open new doors for American energy, expand markets for Gulf Coast exports, and reinforce the foundation of economic power that keeps Texas’ 14th District thriving.

We are now entering day 31 of the Schumer Shutdown. Across the country, millions of families are beginning to feel the impact from looming SNAP delays to air traffic controllers and border agents working without pay.
While hardworking Texans are feeling the effects of this shutdown, Congressional Democrats are holding up government funding over a policy that gives Medicaid benefits to individuals who broke our laws to get here, even those with serious criminal records.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, several illegal immigrants convicted of violent crimes have received thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded medical care: - Haissam Massalkhy, from Lebanon, was convicted of vehicular manslaughter after killing an American citizen while driving intoxicated. He received more than $30,000 in free health care through Medicaid.
- Layth Kamil, from Iraq, was convicted of sex offenses after exposing himself to a 15-year-old girl. He received nearly $16,000 in taxpayer-funded medical benefits.
- Galuak Rotgai, from South Sudan, was convicted of attempted second-degree murder after beating a man unconscious with a baseball bat. He received over $34,000 in free care.
These are not isolated cases. They show just how misplaced priorities have become on the Left. Instead of fixing a broken system and standing up for American taxpayers, Democrats are refusing to move forward unless these benefits remain in place.
The House has already passed responsible legislation to reopen the government and restore essential services. What’s holding it up is a party that’s putting illegal aliens ahead of the American people.
Texans deserve better than that. It’s time to reopen the government, stop funding benefits for those here illegally, and put the American people first.

In Texas’ 14th District, about 12% of households rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to help put food on the table. With Democrats holding funding hostage with a shutdown now stretching past 30 days, those benefits are expected to be delayed starting November 1st. Across Texas, more than 1.2 million households depend on this program. This means families, seniors, and children could soon face real uncertainty if Congressional Democrats continue to block funding bills.

This week, I joined my colleagues in introducing the UNTaxed Act, legislation that draws a clear line between the United States and the global overreach of the United Nations (U.N.). As Vice Chair of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT), I helped lead this effort to ensure that no foreign body can impose taxes or fees on the American people without congressional approval.
The U.N. pushed a global “carbon tax” plan that would allow unelected bureaucrats to collect money from U.S. producers under the banner of climate policy. In reality, it’s a backdoor attempt to drain resources from the American economy and funnel them into another international slush fund. The UNTaxed Act shuts that door for good.
America should never answer to bureaucrats abroad. Our energy policy belongs to the American people, not the United Nations. The Gulf Coast is home to several refineries, MANY ports, including seven in TX-14 alone, and producers that keep our country running. A global tax would punish those industries, drive up costs, and threaten the very jobs that power Texas’ 14th District and America.
The UNTaxed Act keeps America in control of its own destiny. It protects our workers, strengthens our energy independence, and makes it clear that the United States will never pay a global tax for producing the energy that fuels the world.

In just ten months, President Trump has delivered more for America’s economy than Washington managed in the last four years combined. The Trump Administration has rolled out another round of major investments aimed at rebuilding America’s economy from the ground up. According to the White House, more than $8.9 TRILLION in new investments are now flowing into U.S. infrastructure, manufacturing, and energy production.
These investments represent real jobs, stronger communities, and renewed confidence in the American worker. From new semiconductor facilities and advanced manufacturing plants to refinery modernization and energy export expansions, these projects are restoring the kind of economic foundation that keeps our country safe and competitive.
During his recent trip to Asia, President Trump secured new trade and energy partnerships that directly support these investments. Agreements with Japan and South Korea will bring billions in American exports and strengthen the global supply of critical minerals.
The focus is simple: build in America, hire American workers, and produce American energy. What this administration has achieved in less than a year is proof that when the government gets out of the way and puts America first, our nation gets stronger by the day.

It’s been another busy week across Texas’ 14th District! We joined the Port of Port Arthur for the grand opening of Lot 8 — a project that turned an old railyard into a five-acre staging area supporting cargo, energy, and industrial operations. This $2 million investment, backed by a Texas DOT grant, will help drive long-term economic growth for Southeast Texas. Team Weber also presented a Congressional Record recognizing the Port of Galveston’s 200th Anniversary and joined the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce in celebrating their 50th year of service to the coastal community.
Across the district, we connected with educators, small-business owners, and local families at events like the Santa Fe Education Foundation Roundtable, the Galveston County SBDC Breakfast, and the League City Chamber’s Coffee in the Park!
