Randy's Wrap-Up Border Crisis  This week, I joined Speaker Johnson and 60 of my House Republican colleagues in visiting Eagle Pass. We spoke with Border Patrol agents and discussed possible solutions to fix the southern border's humanitarian and national security crisis.I've been visiting the border since I was in the Texas State House in 2009, and I can confirm this is the worst I've ever seen, the worst the Border Patrol agents we talked to have seen, and the worst Texas law enforcement officers have ever seen. In Fiscal Year F.Y.2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered a record 2.48 million illegal aliens at our southern border, in addition to nearly 670,000 so-called "got-a-ways." On average, more than 8,400 illegal aliens entered our country every single day over the last year. While those numbers are shocking, they are projected to be even worse in FY2024. In December 2023, CBP reported apprehending a record-shattering 302,000 illegal migrants crossing our southern border. Yet, there was no outrage or condemnation of this alarming news from the Biden administration. The population of Jefferson County is approximately 250,000. The population of Galveston County is approximately 350,000. The population of Orange County is approximately 84,000. The population of Brazoria County is approximately 370,000. The number of border crossings we saw in December 2023 alone is approximately one entire new county in TX-14. Joe Biden is responsible for creating the policies that are encouraging illegal immigration, and he won't work with Republicans to fix the problem. We passed a border bill, H.R. 2 – strong legislation to secure America's border. We passed that over six months ago. It's been sitting in the Senate doing nothing because they don't want to fix the problem. In November 2023, I introduced legislation to reinstate the remain in Mexico policy This legislation will require those seeking asylum at the Southern border or without proper documentation to return to Mexico to wait for their immigration proceedings. It also sets a robust standard for asylum eligibility, ensuring that the process is reserved for those with genuine humanitarian needs and preventing its misuse for ulterior motives.Due to President Biden's dereliction of duty, our communities have become border cities, and human smugglers, drug traffickers, and terrorists endanger every American. To salvage our great nation, we must secure our border. We won't back down on our fight to secure the border. The time to act is now.

Border Crisis

border trip

This week, I joined Speaker Johnson and 60 of my House Republican colleagues in visiting Eagle Pass. We spoke with Border Patrol agents and discussed possible solutions to fix the southern border's humanitarian and national security crisis.

I've been visiting the border since I was in the Texas State House in 2009, and I can confirm this is the worst I've ever seen, the worst the Border Patrol agents we talked to have seen, and the worst Texas law enforcement officers have ever seen.

It also sets a robust standard for asylum eligibility, ensuring that the process is reserved for those with genuine humanitarian needs and preventing its misuse for ulterior motives.

Due to President Biden's dereliction of duty, our communities have become border cities, and human smugglers, drug traffickers, and terrorists endanger every American. To salvage our great nation, we must secure our border. We won't back down on our fight to secure the border. The time to act is now.

Survey Question of the Week

The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit challenging legislation Governor Greg Abbott signed to secure the Texas-Mexico border. The law Gov. Abbott signed makes it illegal for an illegal immigrant to enter or attempt to enter Texas directly from a foreign nation.

The Biden Administration’s decision to sue our great state of Texas for trying to secure its border is shameful. The first responsibility of leaders is to protect their citizens, and Governor Abbott has shown leadership where President Biden has been an abject failure.

Do you agree with the DOJ suing Texas over new border security law?
