This week, President Donald J. Trump delivered his first State of the Union Address of his second term, laying out a bold vision for the Renewal of the American Dream. His speech highlighted the Administration’s key achievements—securing our border, revitalizing our economy, reasserting American strength on the world stage, and laying the groundwork for lasting peace.
Border Security Restored: President Trump’s Crackdown Delivers Historic ResultsAfter four years of Biden’s open-border disaster, President Trump has led a historic effort to crack down on illegal immigration and the deadly drugs pouring into our communities—and he’s done it without waiting on Congress.
The results speak for themselves: - Illegal crossings have plummeted 94% from last February—and down 96% from Biden’s all-time high.
- ICE arrests have skyrocketed 627%.
- Cartels and traffickers are on the run, with many would-be illegal crossers now turning back.
- Migrant shelters are shutting down—because the border crisis is being stopped at the source.
Meanwhile, President Trump is restoring common sense and merit in government. The Biden Administration’s radical DEI agenda is gone. Merit-based hiring is back—including at the Federal Aviation Administration, where Biden had prioritized hiring based on quotas instead of qualifications. Protecting America’s ChildrenPresident Trump understands that our children are the future—and he has already taken decisive action to end the radical left’s dangerous indoctrination in schools and sports: - Reaffirmed that there are only two sexes under U.S. law.
- Ended the unfair practice of forcing women to compete against men in sports—leading the NCAA to change its rules.
Fighting for Lower Costs & American Energy IndependencePresident Trump took office on a promise to lower costs and has wasted no time delivering results. He created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to eliminate bureaucratic waste—already saving taxpayers billions. And on energy, President Trump declared a National Energy Emergency, unleashing American oil and gas production. Thanks to his leadership: - The U.S. is now the world’s largest net exporter of natural gas.
- The National Energy Dominance Council is ensuring America’s vast energy resources are fully utilized.
- Families and businesses are seeing relief at the pump and on energy bills.
Putting American Workers First & Taking Back Our EconomyPresident Trump is putting American workers first, strengthening key industries, and putting an end to America being ripped off by global elites. His record-breaking deportation efforts are also removing illegal immigrant criminals from our streets, despite opposition from Democrat-run sanctuary cities.
With President Trump back in office, America is once again strong, secure, and unapologetically putting Americans first. The work continues—but the American Dream is being restored.

During President Trump's address Democrats engaged in a shameful display of outbursts and grandstanding, once again showing their true colors.
In a disgraceful breach of decorum, Texas Democrat Rep. Al Green repeatedly interrupted the President, shouting over him in an attempt to hijack the proceedings. Speaker Johnson warned him multiple times to take his seat, but Green refused—forcing the Sergeant at Arms to remove him from the House Chamber. This behavior is unacceptable, a direct violation of House Rules, and a slap in the face to the American people.
That’s why yesterday the House of Representatives passed a censuring resolution for Rep. Green disorderly conduct. We must uphold the integrity of the People’s House.
But Green’s antics weren’t the only disgrace of the night. Congressional Democrats were so blinded by their hatred of President Trump that they refused to show support for even the most unifying and inspiring moments of the speech.
They refused to stand for: ✅ Capturing an ISIS terrorist behind the Abbey Gate attack ✅ A young boy bravely battling brain cancer ✅ Lowering taxes for hardworking Americans ✅ Record enlistment in the U.S. military ✅ Law and order and keeping our communities safe ✅ Defending women’s sports from unfair competition ✅ Securing our border and removing criminal illegal aliens ✅ Cutting wasteful government spending ✅ Bringing back American manufacturing jobs
And the list goes on. As Dana Perino put it best, “The Democratic Party still has no common sense. They have no ideas, and they have no heart.”
The contrast could not be clearer. President Trump and House Republicans are working to restore American greatness, while Democrats refuse to even acknowledge the victories that benefit our nation.
The American people deserve better. We’re fighting every day to uphold conservative values, restore common sense, and put America First. Stay tuned—we’re just getting started.

Each week, I will shine a spotlight on the waste, fraud, and abuse that the Department of Government Oversight and Efficiency (DOGE) has uncovered within the federal government. Hardworking American taxpayers deserve to know exactly how their money is being spent—or, in many cases, squandered. From reckless spending to bureaucratic mismanagement, I’ll break down the worst offenders and hold Washington accountable. Stay tuned as we uncover the truth and push for real reforms that put the American people first.
- $2,250,000 for “training on the implications of climate change” in Azerbaijan
- $5,000,000 to “support the creation of a new mechanism to enable timely and strategic deployment of resources to local, grassroots gender justice organizations”
- $2,100,000 to “assure the quality of services along the prevention-to-care continuum for men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender individuals” in Rwanda

This week in Washington was a busy one. I started the week by speaking at a NASA event about the Artemis program, which is setting its sights beyond Earth’s orbit—not just to return to the Moon, but to pave the way for future missions to Mars. I also had the opportunity to congratulate and thank Vanessa Wyche for her dedicated service to Johnson Space Center and to wish her the best in her new role as Acting Associate Administrator for NASA. Additionally, I met Christina Koch, a NASA astronaut currently training for the Artemis II mission. She is a proud resident of TX-14, and we couldn’t be prouder of her contributions to space exploration!
Then I sat down with the Ripon Society to discuss the need to boost United States energy production and the work I plan to do on the Energy and Commerce Committee. I also spoke at the Geothermal House DC about the need to advance geothermal technologies to a great group and got to talk with folks from Texas.
I also had a great group of folks from TX-14 up in Washington who represent credit unions across Southeast Texas. Their commitment to supporting local communities and offering financial services that empower hardworking Texans is vital. It was an honor to meet with them and discuss the important role credit unions play in the financial landscape of our region.
