Congressman Weber and the Centerpoint Santa Fe team cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the Centerpoint Santa Fe Electric Service Station.

Texas 14th knows another big storm is never a question of if, but when.
This week, I had the privilege of joining CenterPoint Energy in Santa Fe for the grand opening of the brand-new CenterPoint Santa Fe Electric Service Center. Located on nearly 37 acres, the facility will serve as home base for nearly 150 jobs and give Galveston County the resources and equipment needed to keep the lights on for families across the area.
As a native Southeast Texan serving as Vice Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, I have seen firsthand how important a reliable, resilient electric grid is to our coastal communities. Installing stronger poles, moving power lines underground, and securing a $50 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy for CenterPoint’s Project TALON all mark progress toward a stronger, more dependable energy future for Southeast Texas.
You can have all the equipment and resources to solve a problem, but without the hardworking men and women who show up when disaster strikes, it’s an investment that sits unused. The power lines aren’t going to fix themselves! Because these crews answer the call, this new service center will be a beacon of light in the darkness and help keep our families safe when the next storm hits.
Thank you to all the CenterPoint employees and Southeast Texans who helped make this facility a reality. Together, Texas is growing stronger and better prepared for whatever comes next!

The Texas Gulf Coast is the energy capital of the greatest nation on God's green earth, and I am proud to keep fighting for the hardworking men and women who power America! I am honored to be recognized by Power the Future (PTF) in its Energy Policy Scorecard, where I earned a total score of 121 points for my legislative record supporting American energy production and the workers who keep our nation running!
PTF evaluates members of Congress based on their legislative records, awarding five points for positive votes, five points for sponsorships, and three points for cosponsorships of energy-related legislation.
My legislative record that has contributed to my score includes:
- H.J. Res. 35 – Eliminating Burdensome Regulations on American Energy: I supported this resolution to overturn the Environmental Protection Agency's Waste Emissions Charge rule, which established compliance procedures for methane emissions fees on petroleum and natural gas systems.
- H.J. Res. 131 – Protecting American Energy Production: I supported this resolution to overturn a Bureau of Land Management decision concerning the Coastal Plain Oil and Gas Leasing Program in Alaska, helping remove federal restrictions on domestic oil and gas development and supporting American energy independence.
- H.J. Res. 140 – Expanding American Mineral Development: This resolution overturned a Bureau of Land Management order that restricted mineral and geothermal leasing on approximately 225,000 acres of federal land in northern Minnesota. The measure removes those restrictions, allowing new opportunities for domestic mineral exploration and development while raising environmental protection concerns for the nearby Boundary Waters watershed
I know that energy security is national security. Here in Texas' 14th District, our refineries, petrochemical facilities, ports, and energy workers are the backbone of an industry that keeps America moving. You can count on me to continue supporting policies that strengthen domestic energy production, protect Gulf Coast jobs, and ensure American families and businesses have access to reliable, affordable energy.

American taxpayer dollars should be spent serving the American people, NOT funding organizations with ties to terrorism. I joined several fellow members of Congress in sending a letter to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. calling for an investigation into allegations of federal grant abuse and potential terrorist affiliations among organizations receiving taxpayer funding.
Our concerns stem from a recent Middle East Forum report alleging that 14 organizations with extremist or terrorist connections received nearly $80 MILLION in HHS funding, including more than $42 million reportedly awarded to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for Afghan resettlement programs.
These allegations demand serious scrutiny.
What Our Letter Asks HHS to Do:
- Examine how these grants were awarded;
- Investigate any potential misuse of federal funds;
- And strengthen safeguards so taxpayer dollars are not diverted to organizations engaged in unlawful activity.
Our Constitution protects religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the right to organize peacefully, all of which are fundamental to the American way of life. At the same time, federal agencies have a responsibility to investigate credible allegations of fraud, material support for terrorism, or other violations of federal law, regardless of the organization involved. The leaves may be falling, but Team Weber is rising to the occasion across Texas' 14th District and celebrating big wins for our Texas Gulf Coast!
Team Weber was proud to join the Port of Galveston to celebrate its cargo complex expansion and improvement project! Our Gulf Coast ports are economic powerhouses, supporting thousands of jobs, strengthening our supply chains, and keeping American commerce moving. Investments in our maritime infrastructure are investments in the future of Southeast Texas, and we are excited to see the Port of Galveston continue to grow!
We were also proud to join the Nederland Educational Foundation for its 2026 Breakfast Fundraiser at Nederland High School. This event brought the community together to support our hardworking teachers and students across Nederland ISD. The Foundation goes above and beyond to promote academic excellence by providing educational grants that give teachers the tools and resources they need to help students succeed. Finally, Team Weber visited the League City Rotary Club for a wonderful gathering with some of our community's most dedicated leaders and neighbors who share a passion for making a difference and strengthening the place we call home! The League City Rotary Club continues to make a lasting impact throughout our community through its unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and giving back, bringing folks together to support local initiatives and lend a helping hand to those in need.
There is nothing quite like being back home and seeing firsthand the people, businesses, and organizations that make Texas' 14th District so special. Together we're strengthening our local economy and celebrating the folks who make our communities shine.
