On Tuesday, down in Freeport, Texas, after nearly a decade of working with the Port of Freeport, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and local leaders, I was honored to attend the Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project ribbon cutting. This project will usher in a new era of transformational investment into the heart of Texas’ 14th Congressional District.
In 2014, my colleagues and I authorized this project through the Water Resources and Development Act, paving the way for this game-changing investment in the Texas Gulf Coast.
This project deepens and widens the Freeport Harbor Channel to 56 feet, improving navigation through the port and enhancing the upper turning basin. Larger vessels will move more efficiently through one of the nation’s most vital shipping corridors, and Port Freeport will become the deepest port in Texas, further strengthening our district’s role as the manufacturing and energy capital of the world.
The deeper channel will increase shipping capacity, strengthen our nation’s supply chains, expand access to global markets, and support more than 150,000 Texas jobs.
This ribbon cutting is a testament to what can happen when local, state, and federal partners come together to invest in America’s infrastructure. Texas is open for business, and the people of Texas’ 14th District will continue powering America for generations to come.

Summer is almost over, which means back-to-school season is here! Folks all across Texas' 14th District are getting ready for another exciting school year. Classrooms will soon be filled with the next generation of innovators, teachers, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs and tradesmen who will shape the future of our nation.
Whether you're helping your child pick out the perfect backpack and lunchbox or you're a staff member putting the finishing touches on your classroom and lesson plans, thank you. Your hard work, sacrifice, and dedication make a difference every single day. Strong students are built by strong teachers, supportive parents, and communities that invest in children. As the husband of a proud educator, I've seen firsthand the countless hours Brenda Gail spent preparing, encouraging, and inspiring her students, and I couldn't be more grateful for all of the work teachers do.
Teachers are ready to set our students up for success, but that success starts with being prepared on day one. To help your family get ready for the new school year, here are some helpful back-to-school resources and supply lists:

This week, Anthony Fauci testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee as lawmakers continued their investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and the federal government's pandemic response. During the hearing, Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right in response to 111 questions from the committee.
Since 2020, I have questioned the federal government’s COVID-19 policies and the devastating impact they had on hardworking Americans. Small businesses were forced to close their doors, families lost loved ones without proper goodbyes, children fell behind in school, churches were shuttered, and countless Americans saw their livelihoods upended by government decisions that demanded the public’s trust but too often fell short on transparency.
During the hearing, Fauci’s COVID-era diary entries were made public, adding new scrutiny to the federal government’s pandemic response. The journals indicate that Fauci privately considered the possibility that the Wuhan seafood market was not the original source of the virus while scientific discussions over a potential lab leak were taking place behind closed doors. Those revelations have renewed questions about what federal officials knew during the pandemic, when they knew it, and whether the American people were given the full picture.
The American people deserve honest answers, transparent government, and accountability from those entrusted with leading our nation’s public health response. Congress and President Trump are committed to getting those answers and ensuring the American people have the transparency they deserve.

It sure is warm here on the Texas Gulf Coast, but when the sun is shining, Team Weber is getting to work!
I had the opportunity to stop by one of my favorite places in Galveston, La King's Confectionery, a beloved local business known for its old-fashioned treats and rich history. Small businesses like La King's preserve the character of our communities, create good-paying local jobs, and keep the American entrepreneurial spirit alive.
In Port Arthur, Team Weber joined the celebration for the 12th anniversary of Golden Triangle Emergency Center. For more than a decade, this outstanding emergency center has provided compassionate, patient-centered care for families across Southeast Texas. We're grateful for the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff who faithfully serve our communities every day and help keep Texas' 14th District healthy and strong.
Team Weber wrapped up the week in Texas City celebrating the ribbon cutting of the new Family Service Center for Mental Health and Wellbeing. This new facility will expand access to critical mental health resources, strengthen support for individuals and families, and ensure more Texans can receive the care they need close to home.
Whether it's supporting our hometown businesses, recognizing those who dedicate their lives to caring for others, or celebrating new investments that strengthen our communities, Team Weber is committed to keeping Texas' 14th Congressional District the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
