Army

Tomorrow, we commemorate 250 years of the United States Army—250 years of heroic service to this great nation. Every single day, our brave men and women in uniform stand watch, keeping America strong, secure, and the freest nation in the world.

This country has faced its share of tribulations—but time and time again, because of our tremendous military, we have prevailed. The U.S. Army continues to be a shining example of courage and sacrifice, a beacon of hope for the rest of the world.

Let us never forget: freedom is never free. Because of the dedication and sacrifice of our soldiers, the United States of America remains free. May we always be grateful—and may God bless the U.S. Army for 250 years of service and sacrifice.

Rescissions Package

President Trump

President Trump and House Republicans made a commitment to the American people: to rein in out-of-control spending and root out waste, fraud, and abuse in Washington. Last week, we took another bold step toward delivering on that promise.

The Trump Administration submitted a formal rescission request to Congress under the Impoundment Control Act—targeting billions in bloated, unnecessary spending. In response, House Republicans passed H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, led by Majority Leader Steve Scalise, to eliminate $9.4 billion in wasteful spending.

This includes:

  • $8.3 billion in reckless foreign aid funneled through the State Department and USAID

  • $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting—ending taxpayer subsidies for liberal media giants like NPR and PBS

For too long, Washington has prioritized pet projects and leftist agendas over the American taxpayer. That’s unacceptable. This rescission package signals a clear shift—one where Congress finally takes responsibility for restoring fiscal discipline and standing up for hardworking families who are tired of footing the bill for woke nonsense and global giveaways.

House Republicans are proud to stand with President Trump in delivering real accountability and common sense. The American people deserve no less.

LA Riots

LA Riots

On June 6, 2025, the city of Los Angeles descended into chaos.

What began as a protest against ICE enforcement actions quickly spiraled into a full-blown riot, with violent mobs clashing with federal immigration agents and local police. These weren’t peaceful demonstrators—they were highly organized radicals who turned the streets of Los Angeles into a battleground.

ICE agents, acting under the law to remove illegal immigrants with final orders of removal, were met with hostility, violence, and resistance. Federal officers were attacked, LAPD officers were caught in the middle, and storefronts were looted and burned. These were calculated acts of anarchy, not spontaneous unrest.

And what did California’s Democrat leaders do? Nothing. Their spinelessness and political cowardice allowed this lawlessness to fester. They refused to back our officers. Instead, they attacked President Trump for enforcing immigration law. That’s right—the Democrat Party stood with the lawbreakers, not the law enforcers.

Because of their refusal to act, President Trump sent the National Guard to restore order in Los Angeles. He did what California’s leftist politicians wouldn’t: defend law and order. While Democrats tried to blame President Trump for the violence, they conveniently ignored the decades of sanctuary policies and the Biden-era open border disaster that brought us to this point.

Let’s remember the facts:

  • Biden’s administration welcomed as many as 20 million illegal aliens into our country.

  • California and other blue states rolled out the red carpet—offering illegal immigrants free healthcare, housing, and protection from ICE.

  • Democrat politicians encouraged resistance to federal law enforcement at every turn.

Now, emboldened by years of pandering, these rioters are assaulting law enforcement officers, torching communities, and threatening public safety—all while the Democrat Party cheers them on.

Enough is enough.

That’s why I proudly co-sponsored H.R. 3859, introduced by my Texas colleague Rep. Dan Crenshaw. This bill makes any immigrant who assaults a law enforcement officer during a riot immediately eligible for deportation and revocation of any immigration status. Because if you come to this country and then attack those who protect and serve—you don’t deserve to stay.

President Trump is leading with bold, decisive action—launching the largest mass deportation effort in American history—and we are going to help him finish the job. These violent actors, inspired by radicals like AOC and Hakeem Jeffries, will not stop us from restoring law and order in this country.

While the left tries to dismantle our borders and demonize our police, I will always stand on the side of law, order, and the American people.

Let’s be very clear:

You attack a cop—you get deported.

Powering Demand: Nuclear Solutions for AI Infrastructure

play button

This week, I had the privilege of chairing a critical Energy Subcommittee hearing titled “Powering Demand: Nuclear Solutions for AI Infrastructure.” As artificial intelligence reshapes our economy, it’s also placing unprecedented new demands on our power grid—and we must be ready.

Much like the dawn of the atomic age in the 1940s, we now stand at the threshold of a new technological era—this time driven by artificial intelligence. And just like then, we need bold, reliable energy solutions that can keep up with innovation, strengthen our national security, and protect American jobs. That’s where nuclear energy comes in.

Data centers are projected to more than triple their energy use by 2030. Big Tech knows it—companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft are already investing heavily in nuclear energy to meet those demands. Why? Because nuclear works. It provides the clean, reliable baseload power that high-tech infrastructure must have—with a 92.5% capacity factor, the highest of any energy source.

At the hearing, we reviewed how the Department of Energy is helping lead the way by supporting advanced reactor technologies, improving nuclear fuel security, and accelerating deployment of AI through smart, strategic policies. We also heard from private sector innovators like Oklo, X-Energy, and Constellation Energy—companies on the front lines of this energy-tech partnership.

We discussed new models like “behind-the-meter” power agreements, which give companies more control, reduce red tape, and deliver electricity where it’s needed most—without Washington getting in the way.

And right here at home in Southeast Texas, we’re seeing the fruits of this progress. Dow and X-Energy are planning a next-generation nuclear project in Sea Drift, just outside the 14th District. That means more energy, more jobs, and more opportunity.

Let me be clear: America cannot lead the world in AI, innovation, or national security if we can’t keep the lights on. Nuclear energy is not just part of the solution—it is the solution.

As Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee, I’ll keep pushing for an energy policy that is pro-America, pro-innovation, and most importantly, pro-reliability.

More to come. Stay tuned.

Around the District

Around the District

This week, Team Weber had the privilege of attending the Pelican Island and Galveston Channel Advocacy Committee Meeting, where U.S. Coast Guard Commander Brad Bergan gave a vital briefing on maritime safety and operations impacting our ports.

They also made attended several chambers of commerce throughout the district. At the Santa Fe Chamber’s monthly luncheon, DEA Agent Dr. Kareem Vaughn spoke about ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking—an issue that hits close to home for so many of our families. Team Weber attended the Texas City–La Marque Chamber’s Business Showcase Casino Night, a fantastic event that spotlighted local small businesses and entrepreneurs. They also took part in the Galveston Chamber’s “Good Morning Galveston,” where Port CEO Roger Rees announced that an icebreaking company will soon take over the Gulf Copper facility—bringing new opportunities to our region.

In addition, our team attended the Galveston Chamber’s “State of the Healthcare” luncheon, where health care professionals and community leaders shared insights about the needs and challenges facing our coastal health systems.

Team Weber also visited with the Galveston Coastal Protection District at Texas A&M Galveston to continue conversations around storm protection and resiliency—something every coastal community should prioritize.

Most notably, we had the solemn honor of attending the funeral of Sergeant J.D. White Jr., who served with the Angleton Police Department for 19 years. Sergeant White was a true public servant, and we are grateful for his sacrifice and unwavering commitment to his community.

Lastly, our team wrapped up the week at the Brazosport Business Roundtable Breakfast, where Scott Daigle, Vice President at MEGlobal, shared a powerful update on the energy and chemical sector—industries that are absolutely vital to Texas and to America’s economic and energy strength.

Whether in D.C. or in the district, we’re working every day to deliver results for the people of TX-14.
