House Claws Back $9 Billion in Wasteful Spending This week, House Republicans passed a critical rescissions package to eliminate $9 billion in wasteful spending—waste identified by none other than President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). House Claws Back $9 Billion in Wasteful Spending

Waste Fraud and Abuse

This week, House Republicans passed a critical rescissions package to eliminate $9 billion in wasteful spending—waste identified by none other than President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This is a win for taxpayers, for transparency, and for common sense.

Let’s be clear: House Republicans are taking a hard look at the bloated federal bureaucracy. We’re rooting out fraud, abuse, and absurd spending schemes that have no place in a responsible government. We’re doing what we said we would do—Promises Made, Promises Kept.

Here are just a few outrageous examples of what’s being cut:

  • PBS:
    • Produced a documentary arguing the case for reparations.
    • Aired a children’s program featuring drag queens.
    • Produced a movie celebrating the sex change of a child.
  • NPR:
    • Ran a feature around “queer animals.”
    • Argued “fat-phobia” is racist.
    • Lamented that animals require pronouns.
  • USAID:
    • $135 million in contributions to the World Health Organization.
    • $158 million from the Lebanon Peacekeeping Mission.
    • $83 million from the UN Development Program.
    • $33 million from the UN Population Fund.
    • $8 million for the UN Human Rights Council.
    • $3 million for Iraqi Sesame Street.
    • $1 million for voter ID in Haiti.
    • $6 million for “Net Zero Cities” in Mexico.
    • $6 million for supporting media organizations and civic life of Palestinians.
    • $3 million for sexual reproductive health in Venezuela.

Folks, that’s your hard-earned money. It’s time Washington stopped treating it like monopoly money.

This package is just the beginning. It complements our work on the One Big Beautiful Bill and the broader appropriations process. I look forward to passing more of these common-sense rescission packages—because the American people deserve a government that respects their wallets and their values.

House Republicans are leading the charge to clean up the mess, cut the waste, and put America First.

Bill to Improve Extreme Weather Forecasting

Weather Forecasts

As your representative, I’ve seen firsthand the damage extreme weather can cause across Southeast Texas—from hurricanes to flash floods. That’s why I’ve teamed up with Rep. Deborah Ross to introduce bipartisan legislation that will modernize and improve weather forecasting capabilities.

This bill invests in better data, stronger modeling, and next-generation tools to help our communities prepare for whatever Mother Nature throws our way. Texans deserve nothing less than the best technology to protect their lives, property, and livelihoods.

Some have asked about recent cuts to NOAA—let me be clear: those cuts are about rooting out waste and holding Washington accountable. This legislation has nothing to do with those reductions. In fact, it’s about ensuring that as time evolves, our forecasting systems do too. We believe in innovation, not bureaucracy.

This is a smart, targeted investment to strengthen public safety and deliver real results for the people of Texas.

Around the District

Around the District

While I was in Washington this week fighting for Southeast Texas, Team Weber was hard at work across the district!

They stopped by Beach Bunny Frozen Yogurt in Galveston, Pinch A Penny Pools, and ADICO Engineering in Friendswood to celebrate their ribbon cuttings. They also joined the Orange Community Players in Orange to mark an exciting new chapter. We are truly blessed to have these incredible businesses and organizations strengthening our communities.

Team Weber also rolled up their sleeves at the Galveston County Food Bank, volunteering to help distribute meals to our veterans. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve those who served us.

Team Weber also attended the Taste of Brazoria County, supporting our local flavors and small businesses.

They welcomed Jay Keith, the new Executive Director at Community Retirement Home, during a special reception honoring his leadership.

And at San Jacinto College, they took part in a forum on the impact of oil and gas in everyday life—discussing how petrochemicals are the backbone of modern living, from the clothes we wear to the cars we drive.

It’s always a good week when we can support job creators, local events, and community leaders across Southeast Texas!

I want to give a big THANK you to our Summer interns in Washington. We are always lucky to have interns in each of our offices that assist with daily activities, conduct research, assist constituent inquiries, and much more. They play an indispensable role in serving the constituents of TX-14. They have truly outdone themselves, and we can't wait to see what they conquer next!
