Randy's Wrap-Up I Stand with Israel On the 50-year anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, during Shabbat and the holiday of Simchat Torah, Iran-backed Hamas terrorists launched a coordinated, sophisticated, and barbaric attack on Israeli civilians and soldiers - launching thousands of rockets, kidnapping families, and murdering innocents in their homes and on the streets. The vicious and unprecedented air, land, and sea attack by Hamas terrorists against Israel killed more than 1,300 Israelis, including at least 27 American citizens, and left thousands wounded and held hostage by Hamas. We unequivocally stand with Israel. All this terrorism must be stopped. The number one exporter of terrorism- the Iran regime, needs to be changed. This week, I joined 421 of my colleagues to introduce a bipartisan resolution standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists and condemning Hamas’ brutal war against Israel. Now is the time to show the world the United States firmly stands with our friend and ally, Israel, in condemning this heinous attack by Iran-backed terrorists. I also joined over 100 of my House Republican colleagues to introduce a bill that would refreeze the $6 billion in Iranian funds. A month ago, on the anniversary 9/11, the Biden administration unfroze $6 billion and made it available to Iran — the world’s largest state sponsor of terror — while Iran was helping Hamas plan the horrific terror attacks on Israel. This $6 billion will be used to backfill the money that Iran is paying to Hamas if we don’t act. We must plainly reject any funds going to Iran. Since the Administration refuses to permanently freeze the funds, Congress will. It is time (long past time) for Israel to take out the murderous terrorists that have been killing Israelis! We need to assist our greatest ally, Israel - as much as possible! May GOD be with Israel and US as we seek to support them!“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!” – Psalm 122:6

Update from Washington

capitol

Last week, I mentioned that I was working diligently to help House Republicans use this opportunity to unite in electing a new, effective, and conservative Speaker so we can get back to doing the work of the People's House.

Here is an update on where things stand today. Over the weekend, I endorsed Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House. I believe we need a leader who will fight for our conservative Texas values, like closing the southern border, eliminating the deficit, and cutting our wasted spending. Jim Jordan is committed to doing that and getting back to work for the American people.

During a closed-door House Republican conference meeting, we heard from both speaker candidates, Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise. After we listened to why they would make a good fit...we voted. I voted for Jim Jordan as Speaker; however, Steve Scalise won the majority of the conference vote (113-99). But yesterday, Steve Scalise dropped out of the speaker race because he didn't believe he could get to 217 votes when we brought the vote to the House floor.

Today, Jim Jordan jumped back into the speaker race, and I will continue to support Jim Jordan during the race. As I've mentioned before....the situation is very fluid and is changing by the day, and sometimes even hours. I believe that the Republican conference needs to come together and unite behind one candidate so we can get back to work. The American people and the world need us to get back to business.

But we have not forgotten that we need to work extremely quickly and make dramatic spending cuts to get our economy back on track and our borders secure. We also need to help our greatest ally - Israel, in their time of need. Americans deserve nothing less. It is an honor to represent each of you in Congress. And I never forget that I work for YOU.

This week, Team Weber joined the Texas Chemical Council and Association of Chemical Industry of Texas' annual luncheon to present awards to local and state elected officials who have shaped policies to impact the industry field. They attended the Brazoria County Fair Association's BBQ cookoff event. It was a great event, and all the proceeds went to youth scholarships in the agricultural field. Team Weber also represented me at the State of the City of Galveston with Mayor Brown and City Manager Buckely, where they went over the city's infrastructure, roadways, ports, tourism, Pelican Island, and several other issues involving the community. And finally, they visited NASA to see samples from the OSIRIS-Rex mission and toured Collins Aerospace.
