Outlining One Big, Beautiful Bill to Pass President Trump’s Agenda and Deliver for Americans

Budget Resolution

Last week, I asked in the poll whether you would support the House Republican Budget, and over 70% of you said yes. Thank you to everyone who participated—it’s valuable to hear how folks in TX-14 are feeling about the issues and votes happening in Washington.

This week, House Republicans took a critical step in the fight to restore fiscal sanity and put America First. We passed a budget resolution that lays the foundation for one comprehensive bill to secure the border, unleash American energy, prevent the largest tax hike in history, and rein in the out-of-control bureaucracy that’s been strangling our economy.

For far too long, Washington has been addicted to reckless spending, wasting hard-earned taxpayer dollars on bloated programs and ridiculous regulations. But we’re changing that. Our plan calls for $1.5 trillion in mandatory savings—cutting waste, reducing spending, and tackling inflation head-on so families can keep more of their paychecks.

This budget resolution isn’t just numbers on a page—it’s a battle plan. It paves the way to cutting job-killing regulations, stopping tax hikes, and ensuring President Trump has the resources needed to secure our border and keep Americans safe. That’s why we’re demanding $300 billion for border security and defense because protecting this great nation is non-negotiable.

Don’t buy into the liberal media’s scare tactics. They’re working overtime to spread false claims that Republicans are cutting Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. That’s just not true. Our budget doesn’t make line-by-line cuts—it sets the stage for responsible legislation that reins in wasteful spending and ensures taxpayer dollars are spent where they’re actually needed.

Let’s set the record straight: House Republicans are working hand-in-hand with President Trump to craft a strong, comprehensive bill that puts America First. And when it comes to Medicaid, let’s be clear—Republicans aren’t “cutting” it, we’re saving it. Medicaid was designed for Americans who truly need help—those with disabilities, pregnant women, single mothers, and low-income children. But today, it’s being abused by able-bodied individuals who could be working and by states exploiting the system for more federal dollars. That’s not compassion—that’s corruption.

House Republicans will continue fighting to ensure America’s safety, security, and prosperity—no matter how loud the media’s lies get.

Hands Off Our Homes

Last December, in a last-ditch effort to force his radical Green New Deal agenda on American families, Joe Biden’s Department of Energy (DOE) pushed through a regulation that would effectively ban certain natural gas water heaters. This overreaching rule threatens consumer choice and slaps Americans with an additional $235 million in costs every single year—all to appease radical climate activists.

But House Republicans are fighting back.

This week, we passed H.J. Res. 20, a resolution introduced by my colleague Rep. Gary Palmer, to overturn Biden’s burdensome regulation and stop the federal government from deciding what appliances Americans can have in their homes. I took to the House floor to make it clear: Washington bureaucrats have no business dictating what hardworking families can and cannot use.

Let’s be clear—this isn’t about energy efficiency; this is about control. Under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), the DOE is only supposed to set efficiency standards that are cost-effective, feasible, and actually save energy. Yet, Biden’s DOE abused its authority to push electric appliances onto Americans, regardless of cost, performance, or availability. That’s government overreach at its worst.

House Republicans are standing up for affordable energy and consumer choice. Americans—not unelected bureaucrats—should decide what’s best for their homes. We will continue fighting to protect you from Biden’s extreme energy agenda and keep government agencies out of your household decisions.

USPS Act

USPS

This week, I reintroduced the Upholding a Secure Postal System (USPS) Act—because the American people deserve better than lost mail, stolen packages, and endless delays.

For too long, we've seen the same troubling issues with USPS: missing checks, bills that never arrive, and even misconduct within the system. These failures affect families, small businesses, and seniors who rely on timely and secure mail service. That’s why my bill will require the Comptroller General of the United States to provide annual reports to Congress for the next five years, tracking:

✅ Mail theft trends
✅ Delivery delays
✅ Internal employee violations
✅ Investigations by the Postal Inspection Service

These reports will go to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, ensuring USPS is held accountable at the highest levels.

The bottom line? Texans—and all Americans—deserve a postal system they can trust. USPS must step up, fix these failures, and restore reliability to an institution millions depend on every day.
