Texas Strong In the early hours of July 4th, devastating flash floods swept through Texas Hill Country. The Guadalupe River rose an unimaginable 26 feet in just 45 minutes. Entire communities were caught off guard in the middle of the night. Lives were lost, including precious children and families from our own TX-14. Every Texan, and Americans across the country, feel this pain. We all know someone who has been impacted. It is absolutely heartbreaking. I am in Kerr County today with President Trump and Governor Abbott and saw the devastation firsthand. Roads washed out, homes damaged, families grieving. But I also saw Texans hard at work. Law enforcement, emergency crews, utility workers, and volunteers doing what they do best: showing up, lending a hand, and helping put the pieces back together. Over 800 people have already been rescued thanks to the tireless efforts of our first responders, the Coast Guard, and brave volunteers. Tragically, many families are still searching for answers, and recovery efforts continue. We are proud to be Texans. When disaster strikes, we don’t wait for someone else to act. We step up. We look out for our neighbors. That is the spirit of Texas, and there is no place like it. On the Gulf Coast, we are especially aware of these risks and how communities help each other when the worst storms hit.  I spoke with President Trump today in Kerr County, who made it clear that Texas will get whatever it needs. No red tape. No delays. Just help. Now, let’s address something else. It is sickening to see some people use this tragedy to push a political agenda or cast blame on MAGA supporters. That is shameful, divisive, and flat-out wrong. Here are the facts: NOAA’s National Weather Service did its job. The Weather Prediction Center issued clear, repeated warnings before the flooding began. They used every tool at their disposal, including the Amber Alert system, to notify the public. Their offices were fully staffed and prepared. Union reports confirm there were no staffing or resource shortages. The warnings were real, and they were sent out in time. There will be time to talk about prevention. Governor Abbott has already raised the idea of installing warning sirens in flood-prone areas. But right now, we need to focus on supporting the families who are hurting, honoring those we've lost, and rebuilding the communities that were impacted. Texans take care of Texans. And together, we will recover, we will rebuild, and we will stand strong.

They used every tool at their disposal, including the Amber Alert system, to notify the public. Their offices were fully staffed and prepared. ICE Agents

ICE Agents

Let me be clear: taxpayer-funded benefits are for American citizens and lawful residents — NOT for those who break our laws to get here. Today, under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, the federal government is finally putting American citizens first by closing the loopholes that have allowed illegal aliens to access billions in benefits they were never entitled to.

This marks the boldest action in over 30 years to protect American taxpayers and restore the rule of law. Here’s what’s happening:

  • More than 15 public assistance programs across five major federal agencies will now be off-limits to illegal immigrants.

  • These changes enforce the original intent of Congress under the 1996 welfare reform law — which radical bureaucrats have ignored for decades.

  • $40 billion worth of taxpayer-funded programs will now be protected for American families who are struggling and stuck on waitlists.

President Trump’s action reverses decades of open-border policies and ends the days of hardworking Americans being forced to subsidize benefits for illegal aliens.

Here's what the Trump Administration is doing:

  • Department of Health and Human Services: Blocking illegals from 13 additional public programs, including Head Start, mental health and substance abuse services, family planning, and more.

  • Department of Education: Ending free tuition for illegals in post-secondary career and technical education.

  • Department of Agriculture: Restricting access to federally funded food assistance.

  • Department of Labor: Shutting illegals out of workforce development grants and training programs.

  • Department of Justice: Closing loopholes that have enabled illegals to abuse taxpayer dollars.

Meanwhile, our brave ICE and Border Patrol agents are under siege — physically attacked by radical leftist mobs who have been emboldened by reckless Democrat rhetoric.

Just this month:

  • In Alvarado, Texas, 11 leftist agitators opened fire at an ICE facility after vandalizing federal property.

  • In Portland, Oregon, federal officers were assaulted with kicks, punches, and incendiary devices.

  • In McAllen, Texas, gunfire rained down on a Border Patrol facility, sending officers to the hospital.

Let’s be blunt: this is what happens when Democrats call ICE agents “Gestapo,” “thugs,” and “vigilantes.” They incite violence and then play dumb when our officers are attacked.

Some of the worst offenders:

  • Rep. Hakeem Jeffries told people to “fight in the streets.”

  • Rep. Pramila Jayapal said obstructing ICE is “inspiring.”

  • Sen. Bernie Sanders urged Americans to “figure out a way to stop ICE.”

  • Rep. AOC said ICE “should not exist.”

  • Gov. Tim Walz smeared ICE as the “modern-day Gestapo.”

  • And the list of anti-ICE rhetoric goes on and on...

To make matters worse, there’s now an app — called ICEBlock — designed to tip off illegal immigrants about upcoming enforcement actions. That’s right: a smartphone app encouraging people to interfere with law enforcement and help criminal aliens escape.

That’s why I joined Reps. Roger Williams and Pat Fallon in demanding that Attorney General Pam Bondi investigate this dangerous app immediately. We cannot let technology become a tool for lawlessness.

I stand firmly with our ICE officers and law-abiding citizens across this country. The American people have had enough. We are taking our country back — and it starts with putting Americans first.

This week, we kicked off the Fourth of July at Kemah’s 60th Annual Parade, a proud tradition full of patriotic floats and friendly faces. Team Weber also joined the one-of-a-kind celebration in Liverpool and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the community at the Friendswood Parade. They also attend the Texas Navy Wreath Ceremony in Bolivar, a powerful tribute to the men who fought for Texas' independence. From the red, white, and blue to the prayers and patriotism, no one celebrates America quite like Southeast Texans.

In the spirit of service and sacrifice, I had the privilege of attending the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce’s First Responders Salute, recognizing the men and women of the La Marque and Texas City Police and Fire Departments, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, and UTMB Police. These heroes are the backbone of our communities.

That same commitment to backing the Blue continued in Friendswood, where I joined Dr. Greg Bonnen to tour the police department and visit with Chief Rogers. We’re grateful for the officers who protect our neighborhoods and put their lives on the line every single day.

On the business front, I joined the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce for an insightful luncheon and roundtable with Glenn Hamer, President & CEO of the Texas Association of Business (TAB). We discussed everything from Texas’ booming economy to TAB’s latest study on energy. I also appreciated the chance to share updates on key federal projects we’re advancing to support local employers. Talking directly with the risk-takers and job creators who power our economy is always time well spent.

Team Weber joined the 77th Annual Rice Field Day hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension in Beaumont. The event highlighted cutting-edge advancements in inbred and hybrid rice breeding, plant physiology, and the latest in nutrient, disease, weed, and insect management.

Finally, we stood in solidarity with the City of Beaumont at a solemn Prayer Service following the devastating floods that have hit our region and state. It was a powerful reminder that in times of crisis, Texans come together. We lean on one another and we lean on the Lord.

Whether it’s honoring our heroes, supporting our small businesses, or lifting up our neighbors in need...I'm proud to represent this incredible district. God bless Southeast Texas, and God bless America!
