This week, President Trump signed an Executive Order directing the Secretary of Education to begin shutting down the Department of Education and transfer authority back to states and local communities. This move ensures that education is led by parents, teachers, and school boards—not unelected bureaucrats in D.C. It also blocks federal education funds from supporting DEI, gender ideology, and other left-wing political agendas that have no place in our schools.

The federal government’s control over education has been a failed experiment. Since its creation in 1979, the Department of Education has spent over $3 trillion, yet student achievement continues to decline. Test scores for math and reading are at historic lows, and the Biden administration has added billions in regulations that burden schools with paperwork instead of letting teachers teach.

Despite an increase of 245% in per-pupil spending since the 1970s, academic performance has worsened. Public school students—especially those in underserved communities—are falling further behind.

Under Biden, the Department of Education has wasted over $1 billion on programs that entrench radical ideologies in schools. It has rewritten Title IX to force gender identity policies into education and imposed costly new rules that siphon resources away from students. The Trump Administration is putting an end to this madness by cutting waste and giving parents the freedom to choose the best education for their children—whether that’s public, private, charter, or faith-based schools.

Returning education to the states is a huge step toward restoring common sense in America’s schools. It’s time to put parents back in charge, get politics out of the classroom, and refocus on giving students the quality education they deserve.

Exposing Waste, Fraud, and Abuse

Elon Musk

I wrote a guest column for the local papers in Southeast Texas and wanted to share with you.

Tax season is upon us, and hardworking Americans across the country are cutting checks to the federal government. But as you crunch the numbers, ask yourself: Is Washington spending your tax dollars wisely?

Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding no. Waste, fraud and abuse are deeply embedded in our federal agencies. Instead of being good stewards of your money, unelected bureaucrats funnel billions into pet projects, reckless spending, and unaccountable programs.

Our tax dollars should be working for you, not funding the Left’s radical agenda.

That all stopped under President Trump.

On day one, President Trump took decisive action, saving Americans over $180 billion — that’s roughly $2,100 per family of four — by halting job-killing Biden-era regulations.

But he didn’t stop there. He also tasked Elon Musk with conducting a top-to-bottom audit of the federal government, identifying waste, fraud and abuse that have been entrenched in Washington for decades.

The results? Exactly what we expected — bureaucratic bloat, reckless handouts, and an appalling disregard for the American taxpayer.

Enough is enough. The buck stops now. Literally.

Think about it: Washington politicians and career bureaucrats have no problem sending your tax dollars to fund transgender surgeries, bankroll climate change propaganda and promote woke ideologies in foreign countries.

Meanwhile, Americans struggled under skyrocketing inflation, energy costs, and a border crisis that Joe Biden refused to fix in the four years in office and instead drove our country into the ground.

If you don’t think our government is bloated and out of touch, I’ve got oceanfront property in Oklahoma to sell you. Course-correcting won’t be painless — there will be some tough decisions ahead. But if we don’t get spending under control and tackle our mounting debt, we won’t just be fixing a mess—we’ll be fighting to save our great nation.

President Trump is putting America First again — cutting waste, stopping the radical Left’s agenda, and making sure your hard-earned money stays where it belongs: with you and your family. This tax season, it’s time to ask: Are we funding the American dream, or are we bankrolling a bureaucratic nightmare?

It’s time to take back control. In November, the American people demanded accountability. And under President Trump, we’re making it happen.

In the House of Representatives, we passed a continuing resolution to keep the lights on while we continue exposing waste, fraud, and abuse.

The next step is coming together with the Senate for reconciliation to start cutting the bloated spending. We’re also working to get the FY26 appropriations bills in order—because it’s time to change the tide in Washington.

Next tax season, you deserve to know that your hard-earned dollars are funding your family’s priorities and upholding American values — not Washington’s wasteful agenda.
