Biden's War on Texas

Texas border

On Friday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that 189,922 illegal immigrants were encountered at the Southern Border in February, the highest February ever recorded in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) history. Not to mention, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported less than 5% of all migrants encountered in 2023.

Last week, Texas defeated the Biden Administration's attempt to block a law (S.B. 4) allowing Texas state law enforcement authorities to arrest and deport illegal aliens within the state of Texas. Since day one of Joe Biden's presidency, Texas has had to fight to secure our border because of the complete failures of the federal government. Recently, we saw our brave Texas National Guardsmen overrun at the border by invading illegals. Joe Biden is allowing thugs, rioters, rapists, murderers, drug cartel and gang members, and human traffickers to waltz into our communities. It is clear instead of helping Texas do its job, Joe Biden is coming after Texas guns blazing over S.B. 4. I am glad that the Supreme Court RULED Texas is under invasion.

Here is a list of illegal aliens that have come across the border in the last couple of weeks:

  1. Agents arrested a "citizen of the year," a Mexican Mafia associate.
  2. An illegal migrant from Lebanon told border authorities he was a Hezbollah terrorist and hoped 'to make a bomb' in the U.S.
  3. A Haitian man arrested for raping a 15 y/o disabled girl at a migrant hotel in Massachusetts came to the U.S. via the Biden admin's parole program for Haitians, which allowed him to fly into JFK airport in NYC direct from Haiti in June 2023 w/ a two-year parole grant.
  4. Border Patrol agents in El Paso, TX, arrested a Colombian attempting to enter the country illegally. Agents searched the subject & found photos of people being tortured on his phone. He also had specific tattoos indicative of gang membership (Clan del Golfo).
  5. INTERPOL MOST WANTED CAPTURED IN TEXAS: Aderbis Segundo Pirela, 28, was arrested in New Braunfels. He was wanted in at least four murders and was on Interpol's top 10 most wanted, along with Colombia's most wanted list.
  6. Local media in Alabama reports an illegal alien has been charged with raping a 14-year-old mentally incapacitated girl and is being held without bond. 23-year-old Pablo Mendoza was arrested by Enterprise P.D. and is being charged with first-degree rape.

Capitol Flags

The Capitol flag program began in 1937 when a Member of Congress requested a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol.

Over the years the focus of the program gradually expanded to encompass the commemoration of national holidays and various special events, as well as to honor the work of groups such as schools and civic organizations. Requests for Capitol flags rapidly outgrew the supply; hence, the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) instituted a program of flying smaller flags that may be purchased through members' offices.

The AOC fulfills all flag requests from members of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. Flags are flown daily year-round, weather permitting, excluding Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Currently, the AOC fulfills on average more than 100,000 flag requests from Members of Congress annually, with the number of requests and the popularity of the Capitol Flag Program growing steadily each year. There are special flag poles where all flags are flown. After it is flown over the U.S. Capitol, each flag is issued a keepsake Certificate of Authenticity by the AOC.

If you would like a flag flown over the Capitol please make sure to visit weber.house.gov to submit a request.

Around the District

This week, I visited the impressive Phillips 66 Sweeny Refinery. I met with Sweeny Refinery leadership to learn about operations, safety accomplishments, and community and economic impact! Team Weber attended the Orange Chamber of Commerce grand opening celebration for Workforce Solutions of SETX. They also participated in the Mental Health Wellness Center groundbreaking ceremony in Galveston County. Team Weber attended the Business Alliance of Brazoria County/Lower Brazos River Coalition Quarterly luncheon to finish the week.

Art Competition

Art Comp

It's that time of year again!!

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent nationwide and each congressional district. The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

Students submit entries to their representative's office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The overall winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nationwide.

For requirements and entry information, please visit our website. The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, April 10, 2024, by 5:00 PM CST.
