Dear Friend,
We've heard from many of you regarding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announcement on coastal barrier protection. As you may be aware, USACE is working closely with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to study the feasibility of constructing coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration (ER) projects along the Texas coast.
On October 26, the study team released a Draft Report and Environmental Impact Statement detailing a Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP) that employs a "multiple lines of defense" strategy, combining structural, natural, nature-based, and non-structural measures to provide resilient, robust, and adaptable solutions to promote life-safety based on local site conditions and the values of the coastal community.
If you'd like to learn more about the plan, visit coastalstudy.texas.gov to review the coastal barrier plan and offer comments on the proposal; the comment period ends on January 9, 2019. The study team will also be hosting public meetings in our area:

Sincerely,

George Herbert Walker Bush |
George H. W. Bush was one of our great statesmen. His conviction and principle were evident in all that he did. His love for his nation was bested only by his love for his family.
Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Bush 41 joined the Navy and became one of the youngest pilots. He went on to serve in the House of Representatives, as Ambassador to the UN, Envoy to China, Director of the CIA, Vice President to Ronald Reagan, and finally as our 41st President. In each of these roles, he acted with prudence and sound judgement.
For decades, he served our nation honorably and with distinction. GOD bless the Bush family, friends, and former staffers during this difficult time.
To attend his ceremonies in Washington was an absolute honor. This great and good man brought our nation together and quieted some of the divisiveness, which is on display all too often. We have a lot to learn from his mission and his life.
As he arrived at his final resting place in College Station, with Barbara and Robin at either side, he was finally home.
Fair winds and following seas, Mr. President.
